The Announcement No One Wants to Write

This is Brian, with the post I never wanted to write.

Alison died peacefully this morning, as I kissed her and stroked her cheek.  Her parents and older brother were here and were able to say goodbye.

Arrangements will be announced at a later time.  Services for Alison will take place in Charleston.

I thank all those who have loved and cared for Alison and Maybelle over the years.  I am grateful to have been a part of the life of this beautiful, loving, talented woman who has forever transformed my life.

  3. Deepest condolences to you and Maybelle. I expect you're besieged by offers of assistance, so no rush in responding to this. But,... anything I can do?

My areas of deepest knowledge are children's books, music, & writing. For example, if you need recommendations for Maybelle (depending on her interests), I'd be glad to send some ideas and/or the books themselves. Regarding music, well, that, too, would depend on your interests. I frequently send friends compilations on a theme. Alison knew many people who could write and edit, but that's also part of my (admittedly modest) skill set.

Anyway. Of things to offer long-distance, that's all that's coming to mind.

Mostly, though, sending sympathy to you, Maybelle, and all of the family. Hang in there.

  6. Oh, Alison's family. She was so wonderful, and I know the people who made her are too, and the people she chose, and the beautiful person she made. You are all in our thoughts.

When I first read this news, I just said, "Fuck. Fuck this unjust world." But then I thought about everything Alison did to make it more just. And she did twice as much as the rest of us in half the time. I'll be thinking of her as I keep trying to live up to her example. Love, Amanda Kinard (grad school friend and fellow romance novel fan) and family

  7. I am heartbroken to read this news even though it was expected. I only found Alison's writings recently and was so moved by her. My deepest sympathies to all who knew and loved her from the far north coast of California.

  8. The world has lost a most amazing person, but the world was also left better because of her place in it. She will be missed by so very many people. My condolences to you, Maybelle, and Alison's family.

  10. I did not have the luxury of meeting her in person but I use her zine work (Girl Zines) in my Third Wave Feminisms course 1-2 times a year and will include her blog and a piece on her life in every assignment related to her work from here on out. She will live on and on and I am so very sorry for your (and our) loss. May your sweet daughter always know the glorious and powerful legacy her mother has left. Thank you for sharing it.

  11. After being in relationship with Wilson for seven years,he broke up with me, I did everything possible to bring him back but all was in vain, I wanted him back so much because of the love I have for him, I begged him with everything, I made promises but he refused. I explained my problem to someone online and she suggested that I should contact a spell caster that could help me cast a spell to bring him back but I am the type that don't believed in spell, I had no choice than to try it, I meant a spell caster called Dr Zuma zuk and I email him, and he told me there was no problem that everything will be okay before three days, that my ex will return to me before three days, he cast the spell and surprisingly in the second day, it was around 4pm. My ex called me, I was so surprised, I answered the call and all he said was that he was so sorry for everything that happened, that he wanted me to return to him, that he loves me so much. I was so happy and went to him, that was how we started living together happily again. Since then, I have made promise that anybody I know that have a relationship problem, I would be of help to such person by referring him or her to the only real and powerful spell caster who helped me with my own problem and who is different from all the fake ones out there. Anybody could need the help of the spell caster, his email: spiritualherbalisthealing@gmail.com or call him +2349055637784 you can email him if you need his assistance in your relationship or anything. CONTACT HIM NOW FOR SOLUTION TO ALL YOUR PROBLEMS'

  12. Thus people with anxiety can become valuable commodities to a company and achieve great success in their field because of the angst which drives them to succeed and satisfy any requests given.
Now most anxiety sufferers have low self-esteem, and consequently they're normally very self aware and extremely conscious of what they say to others.
